It is Ito

March 17, 2013

A short note to announce that the Pritzker 2013 has gone to 71 year old Tokyo based Toyo Ito and we are, in a blogger-critic’s words, in Ito’s reign now.

Picking up one of CN’s funny images, with due respect here:

Don’t grudge me my love for Conrad Newel, or his wit. I have looked at and see a lot of logic in his analysis of past Pritzker winners (@ http://famousarchitect.blogspot.no/2011/04/76-predicting-pritzker-part-ii-take.html).

But what I love of Conrad will take a whole new post. For now, find his Pritzker digs @ https://www.facebook.com/pages/NOTES-ON-BECOMING-A-FAMOUS-ARCHITECT/187705270620. He was awesome with his notes on pink smoke, and I also love the fun poked at Dennis Rodman even if Conrad borders on being mean. In short, this post is about HIM.

Mr. Ito, on the other hand, says nice things about most people, offers a believable line about finding inspiration from air, wind and water. 6th Japanese architect to win, not bad…

I figure Toyo Ito will be on (architectural) billboards pretty soon, so I will stop here and go look.
